Shop Technician IV

Purpose of Postion
This position is accountable for furnishing quality major in-house repairs to the fleet in a timely and efficient manner while complying with LinkAmerica Policies and Procedures.
Qualifications
- The Level III technician is a Vo-Tech graduate or has completed Level II requirements and spends two years at this level before moving up.
- Three years’ experience as a fleet mechanic.
- Grade on Mechanical Skills Test is at least 70%
- Must possess an interest and natural ability in performing mechanical work.
- Demonstrated ability to perform preventive maintenance and repair tasks according to carrier development requirements.
- Must be able to read and write in the English language and have basic computer skills.

- Attention to Detail - Adheres to standards and always pays attention to the correctness of details.
Principal Accountabilities
- Note: A proficiency checklist will be utilized to monitor progress and indicate whether the technician is ready to move up at the end of two years.
- Perform all tractor and trailer PM’s and related repairs according to approved methods, standards and DOT rules & regulations.
- Mentor Level 1 Technicians and interns.
- Present safety topics to shop technicians.
- Complete all paperwork such as work orders, inspection reports, etc.; Perform data extraction and interpretation.
- Comply with all company, EPA and Safety policies in order to meet local, state and federal standards. Maintain clean work area, keeping spills, grease and debris to a minimum.
- Communicate all parts and inventory needs, maintain counts of parts and conduct periodic inventories.
- Attend all company training classes then retain and demonstrate what was instructed.
- Follow attendance guidelines to ensure sick time is not abused.
- Physical Requirements - Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and be able to stand for long periods of time. Environment may vary from hot to cold and may at times be dusty.
